Description

Small yellowish ants (2-3 mm; head length from 0.499 to 0.628 mm). It is distinguished by relatively short spines of the posterior thorax, light color, smooth upper part of the head. Antennae 12-segmented. The head is oval-elongated, the chest is low and long, the methanotic impression is developed, the hind chest is angular, with long propodeal spines. Chest and head on top with a smoothed sculpture. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed. It is included in the species group Temnothorax nylanderi species-group, is close to the species T. angustifrons (differs from it by a wider forehead and shortened scape of the antennae), T. lucidus , T. similis . The species was first described in 2015 by American and German worldmecologists Sándor Csősz ( California Academy of Sciences , San Francisco , California , USA ), Jürgen Heinze ( University of Regensburg , Regensburg , Germany ), István Mikó (Frost Entomological Museum, University of Pennsylvania , University of Pennsylvania ) Park , Pennsylvania , USA) [1] .
