Medeski Martin & Wood (or MMW ) was founded in 1991 by a jazz trio from New York (USA) consisting of keyboardist John Medeschi, double bass player Chris Wood and drummer Billy Martin. In the music of the group, the influence of jazz fusion , funk , hip-hop and other modern musical styles is noticeable, but in general the collective is inclined to experimental avant-garde sound with a distinct accented groove . The band members actively recorded albums and gave concerts with guitarist John Scofield .
