Men's speed skating competitions at a distance of 10,000 meters at the 2018 Winter Olympics were held on February 15 at the Gangneung Olympic Oval . The competition was attended by 12 athletes from 8 countries. Qualification for the Games was carried out according to the results of four stages of the 2017/2018 World Cup. Competitions began at 20:00 local time ( UTC + 9 ).
The current Olympic champion in the 10,000-meter race was the Dutch skater Jorrit Bergsma , who also participated in the Games in Pyeongchang, having managed to qualify for the Games as a result of the national , held from December 26 to 30 at the Tialf Ice Arena in Heerenveen [ 1] . This time he took second place and won the “silver”.
The world champion of 2016 and 2017 at a distance of 10,000 meters, the famous Sven Kramer , who previously won gold in Pyeongchang at a distance of 5000 meters, unexpectedly ran very weakly and took only sixth place.
