Vladimir Evgenievich Begletsov (born February 1, 1964 ) is a Russian choral and symphonic conductor , teacher. Laureate of the International Competition of Symphonic Conductors of the Yehudi Menuhin Fund ( 1992 ). Honored Artist of the Russian Federation [1] ( 2004 ). Laureate of the Prize of the Government of St. Petersburg ( 2015 ). Biography
Vladimir Evgenievich Begletsov was born on February 1, 1964 in Krasnodar .
He graduated from the Secondary Special Secondary School of the Leningrad Conservatory (teachers - P. A. Rossolovsky, choral conducting; N. F. Ushakova, piano); St. Petersburg (Leningrad) Conservatory (choral and opera-symphonic conducting, class of prof. V.A. Chernushenko; piano, class of prof. V.V. Nielsen).
From 1985 to 2004 he worked as a choirmaster at the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg . He was the artistic director of the choir of boys of the choir school named after M.I. Glinka [2] (1991-2007) and conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg [4] (1996-1998). He taught choral conducting at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov (2002-2006).
In 2014, becoming the director of the M.I. Glinka Choir School , he again headed the Boy Choir of the Choir School . [3]
From 2004 to the present, he has been the artistic director of the Concert Choir of St. Petersburg [5] (the former name of the ensemble is the Chamber Choir of the Smolny Cathedral , currently the choir is still part of the State Museum-Monument “St. Isaac's Cathedral” ). [6] [7]
He toured in many countries of Europe. He performed with symphony groups of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D. D. Shostakovich [8] , State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg [9] , Classical, Northern Symphoniet, Soloists of St. Petersburg, Governor's Orchestra , St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra (St. Petersburg GASO) [4] , orchestras of the Slovenian Radio and Television , the Bucharest Philharmonic Society ( Romania ), the Podlaska Opera and Philharmonic Society ( Poland ), the Moravian Philharmonic Society ( Czech Republic ), Sinfonietta de Picardie ( France ), Musica Viva ( Moscow ).
Among the soloists with whom Vladimir Begletsov collaborated are Zurab Sotkilava , Irina Arkhipova , Nikolai Gedda, Irina Bogacheva , Olga Borodina, Ildar Abdrazakov , Gennady Bezzubenkov , Yuri Marusin , Carmen Baltrop, Alexei Markov, Elizaveta Leonskaya , Sergey Redkin.
Creativity
Vladimir Begletsov performs music of almost all eras and styles, a cappella choral works, oratorios, operas, symphonic works. Bach and Taneyev , Mozart , Beethoven and Tchaikovsky , Brahms , Orff [10] , Dyurufle , Rachmaninov [11] [12] , Shostakovich , Sviridov [13] , Schnittke , Gavrilin , Penderetsky , Desyatnikov ... the list of composer names is difficult to limit.
A special page in his repertoire is the Russian opera . "Aleko" , "Eugene Onegin" , "Snow Maiden" , "Iolanta" , "Queen of Spades" - unique works on the verge of concert and stage embodiment, carried out with the help of invited orchestras by the forces of the Concert Choir of St. Petersburg, in which almost every artist is a potential or an already realized opera soloist.
Among the students of Vladimir Begletsov who sang in the choir and collaborated with him are the Bolshoi Theater soloist Pyotr Migunov , the Mariinsky Theater soloists Daniil Shtoda , Dmitry Voropaev, Yuri Vorobyov, the Mikhailovsky Opera and Ballet Theater soloists Boris Pinhasovich, Boris Stepanov and many other opera singers .
The St. Petersburg Concert Choir is a regular participant in the international music festivals “Stars of the White Nights”, “Art Square” [14] , “Music Collection”, Moscow Easter Festival [15] and others. Among the creative partners are symphony orchestras of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D. D. Shostakovich , State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg , conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky , Yuri Temirkanov , Valery Gergiev , Krzysztof Penderetsky , Kazimierz Kord , Nikolai Alekseev , Valentin Nesterov and many others.
Under the direction of Vladimir Begletsov, the choir regularly performs at the Philharmonic , the Chapel , the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater [16] and at St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Savior on Spilled Blood . Programs of spiritual compositions composed on twelfth holidays in St. Isaac's Cathedral by the choir and soloists of the Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky theaters are formed into an independent story. Vladimir Begletsov presented to the public many premieres of works by contemporary composers - Krzysztof Penderetsky , George Sviridov , Leonid Desyatnikov , Alexander Soynikov, Anatoly Korolev, Sergey Yekimov, Alexander Kneifel , Svetlana Nesterova.
In the summer of 2006, he was the only choir conductor to be honored to speak at the G8 Summit in St. Petersburg .
In the year of the 125th anniversary of S. Prokofiev ( 2016 ), Vladimir Begletsov completed the jubilee concert cycle in St. Petersburg: Two choirs to verses by K. Balmont , “Scythian Suite” and the oratorio “Peace Watch” performed by the Concert Choir were performed at the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg St. Petersburg, Boys Choir School named after M.I. Glinka and the Capella Symphony Orchestra; the role of mezzo-soprano in the oratorio was performed by Olesya Petrova, People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Burov acted as a reader.
In the same 2016, the Concert Choir of St. Petersburg celebrated its 25th anniversary. For a gala evening in the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Vladimir Begletsov chose the opera Tale of Wings, specially written for his collective, based on the Russian folk tale “Go there - I don’t know where, find it — I don’t know what.” [18]
Among the significant achievements of the 2016/2017 season is a series of programs from songs processed for the choir and symphonic works by V. Solovyov-Sedogo [19] (on the 110th anniversary of the composer).
Three times Vladimir Begletsov (2015, 2016, 2017) led the performances of the multi-thousandth combined choir on St. Isaac's and Palace Squares of St. Petersburg on the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture . [20] [21]
Scandals
In February 2019, the Chamber Choir of the Smolny Cathedral, conducted by Begletsov, performed a song about the US nuclear bombardment in St. Isaac’s Cathedral “Bring, I say, Petrov, to the city of Washington!”
