Born into a family of musicians. From the adolescent years he was fond of aviation, at the age of 14 he issued the first patent. He studied engineering in Altenburg , worked as an engineer at the Rheinmetall plant in Düsseldorf . From 1916 he lived and worked in Berlin , after the Second World War he returned to his native city.
In 1921–1925, he led a team of designers working on Orionett motorcycles with two-stroke engines with a capacity of 129 cm³, 137 cm³, 148 cm³ and 346 cm³ with two- and three-stage gearboxes. The construction department, headed by Zashka, also developed an engine with an interesting “Zashka System” design: it was also two- and four-stroke, except for the valve in the cylinder, equipped with a valve in the crankshaft chamber.
In 1929 presented a folding car in Berlin . This light three-wheel vehicle could be assembled by one person in 20 minutes. Such an idea arose in the face of a problem in Berlin with the lack of parking places. In 1934, he patented and built a prototype of an aircraft driven by muscular strain. In the same year, he patented a portable power plant, controlled by the strength of human muscles.
One of the first designers of helicopters .
