Circulatory pathology and cardiac surgery is the official peer-reviewed publication of the Academician E. N. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center , the largest multidisciplinary medical institution outside the Urals [2] . The journal has been published quarterly since 1997 (certificate of registration of mass media No. 015962 [3] ). Published in Russian. Since 2017, the best articles of the issue have been translated into English.

The magazine informs about modern approaches and the latest technologies for the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired heart defects , coronary heart disease , diseases of the main and peripheral vessels, heart rhythm disturbances . The journal also features articles on endovascular surgery and angioplasty. A significant place is given to publications on problems of cardioanesthesiology, neurosurgery and oncology , combined pathologies.
The chief editor is Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. M. Karaskov . The publication is intended for cardiovascular surgeons , cardioanesthesiologists, cardiologists , specialists in related specialties.
The publication is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of science, for the degree of doctor of science, in scientific specialties and corresponding branches of science should be published [4] :

From an interview with the editor-in-chief of the magazine [5] :
The journal “Circulatory Pathology and Cardiac Surgery” appeared in 1997. Can we say that this year it became necessary to share our experience with the Russian scientific community?
At that time, serious relations developed with the medical institute (Novosibirsk State Medical University - approx.ed.) And the new rector Anatoly Vasilyevich Efremov. We decided to create a department of cardiovascular surgery and cardioanesthesiology. The period was difficult, no one wanted to go to medicine. <...> I turned to Anatoly Vasilievich in order to create a department and take graduates to the residency. To take on the training of the guys who worked in the internship for a year, two or three or graduated from the residency in surgery, anesthesiology. This was primarily due to the fact that in the mid-90s, many anesthetists and surgeons left for Europe and America. We decided to create a department of cardiovascular surgery, perfectly understanding: in the region, if not us, then who? Of course, we needed a magazine that would reflect and consolidate all the work in Siberia, the Far East, and the Urals. For a long time, our magazine was the only one on cardiovascular surgery in this area. The name “Circulatory Pathology and Cardiac Surgery” implied all related problems and auxiliary directions (cardioanesthesiology, interventional cardiology and further oncology, radiology, neurosurgery, vascular, hybrid surgery and endovascular technologies). The magazine became a link, because the work came from all over the country. <...>
