Oberliga 1962/63 is the eighteenth season of the Oberliga, the first level of the football league system in West Germany. The league operated in five regional divisions - Berlin, North, South, Southwest and West. Five league champions and runners-up from the west, south, southwest and north entered the 1963 German soccer championship, won by Borussia Dortmund. It was the third national championship of Borussia, which had previously won it in 1956 and 1957. This was the last season of the Oberliga as a first-level league, since after the 1962-63 season the Bundesliga was created, which included the best teams of the Oberliga. The qualification of the new Bundesliga was determined taking into account the previous ten seasons. The winner of the Oberliga Nord was Hamburg, the Oberligs of Berlin - Herth, the Oberligs West - Cologne, the Oberligs South-West - Kaiserslautern, and the Oberligs South - Munich 1860. In the final, Borussia Dortmund defeated Cologne 3-1 and thereby became the third time in history champion of Germany.
