The Brain Surgeons is a rock band from the United States , founded in 1993 by former Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Buchard .

History
The band was founded by Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Buchard and his wife, rock critic Debora Frost in 1993. In the early days of the band, Buchard and Frost were the only official members of the band, and in 1994 their first album, Eponymous, was released. In 1995, the group was joined by guitarist Peter Bohovesky, brother of designer Tommy Hilfiger , guitarist Billy Hilfiger, and bassist David Hircherberg. With this line-up, Brain Surgeons released their second album, Trepanation, and then in 1996, Box of Hammers. In 1997, the group released an album of covers “Malpractise”, and in 1999 a full-fledged album “Piece of Work” [1] .
In 1999, Billy Hilfiger was diagnosed with brain cancer, and he left the group for a course of treatment. Hilfiger died in September 2000. Soon the second guitarist Peter Bohovesky left the band. The group continued to exist as a trio [2] . In 2001, the group held a tribute concert to Helen Wills, the author of most of the lyrics of Blue Öyster Cult. In addition to Brain Surgeons, many other musicians took part in the concert [2] [3] .
In 2004, The Dictators guitarist and former Manowar guitarist Ross Friedman joined the band. Together with Friedman, the group recorded the album “Black Hearts of Soul” in 2004 and in 2006 “Denial of Death” [2] .
Albert Buchard and Deborah Frost divorced in 2006 and the group ceased to exist [4] [5] .
