Description
The ancient settlement near the village of Fedyashevo was first surveyed in 1897 by an expedition led by archaeologist Vasily Alekseevich Gorodtsov . In 1935–1936 archaeological research was carried out by the State Academy of Material Culture History (GAIMC). And also in the 1950s, T. N. Nikolskaya . The mound had relatively good preservation. The site was sod , a rampart and moat were preserved. The height of the shaft reached 4 m. The cultural layer of the settlement is multi-layered; it has a large amount of ash, coal, and pet bones. Along with other layers, there is also an early Slavic layer of the 8th — 10th centuries, which contains stucco thick-walled, well-burned ceramics , with a rope ornament of the Romоменensko-Borschivka- type culture. Pottery ceramics are also present, but in a much smaller volume. Findings of stucco and pottery ceramics quite accurately date the settlement. Found two eastern coins. One of them is dirham Abbasidov ( Abdullah el-Mamun ) of the 815 minter. In addition to the coins, rhombic petioled arrows , vtulchatye and petiole two-pointed spears , bronze psalye , belt buckles were found. The chronological framework of the middle of the first millennium is determined mainly by the found bronze objects: triangular and oval fibulae and various forms of pendants [2] [3] .
