Biography

Lucio Angulo was born on April 9, 1973 in Zaragoza . He played basketball with his elder brother Alberto , who later also became quite a famous basketball player.

He began his career in 1991 at the local basketball club " Zaragoza ", but at that time he had the opportunity to play only in the junior team. In 1992, he joined the Conservas Daroca team in the first division of the Spanish championship, and in 1993 he was rented Peñas Huesca and made his debut in the top league of the Spanish Championship . During this period, for the first time, national team coaches paid attention to him, in particular, he visited the European Youth Championship in Ljubljana, from where he brought a bronze medal award.

In 1994, Angulo returned to his original club "Zaragoza" and with him, among other things, reached the King's Cup final.

Since 1996, he represented the Basque team " TAU Ceramics ", with which he won the King's Cup and took second place in the Spanish Championship.

In the period 1999-2003, he played in one of the strongest Spanish basketball clubs Real Madrid , it was with Real that in 2000 he won the Spanish Championship. In addition, once became the second in the standings of the national championship and once reached the final of the King's Cup.

Thanks to a series of successful performances at the club level in 2001, Lucio Angulo entered the main team of the Spanish national team and was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the European Championships in Turkey - eventually became the bronze medalist here, in the semi-finals with a score of 65:78, the Spaniards lost to Yugoslavia, then as in a consolation meeting for the third place, 99:90 defeated Germany [1] .
