Roberto Garcia ( Spanish: Carlos García ; born August 20, 1975 , Zaragoza ) is a Spanish athlete , a specialist in long-distance running and cross-country . He played for the Spanish national track and field team in the period 1999-2006, the silver medalist of the Universiade in Palma de Mallorca , the winner and medalist of national championships, and a participant in the Athens Summer Olympics .

Biography
Roberto Garcia was born on August 20, 1975 in Zaragoza . He trained at the local athletics club CA adidas, trained with his twin brother Carlos , who later also became a rather famous athlete.
In 1997, he performed at the Youth European Championships in Turku , started at a distance of 10 km, but could not finish.
He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in the 1999 season, when he entered the main squad of the Spanish national team and attended the summer Universiade in Palma de Mallorca , from where he brought the silver dignity award won in the 5000 meters - he lost in the final race at the finish line only to the representative of Ukraine Sergey Lebed .
In 2002, he performed at the European Championships in Munich , was close to getting into the number of winners at the five thousandth distance, sitting in the final protocol of the competition in fourth position.
Thanks to a series of successful performances in 2004, Garcia was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Athens Summer Olympics . He started in the 5000 meters race , but in the preliminary race he showed the time 13: 27.71 and could not qualify for the final, being placed on the nineteenth line of the final protocol. Also this season, set his personal record in this discipline, at competitions in San Sebastian he ran five thousand meters in 13: 16,13.
After the Athens Olympics, Roberto Garcia for some time remained in the Spanish athletics team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 2005, in the 5000 meters race, he finished fifth in the home Mediterranean games in Almeria and took 28th place at the World Championships in Helsinki . In addition, he regularly appeared in cross-country running and was part of the Spanish national cross-country team.
