Stanislav Zosimovich Lakoba ( Abkh. Stanislav Zosim-iҧa Lakoba ; February 23, 1953 , Sukhumi , Abkhaz ASSR ) - Abkhazian historian , writer, public and political figure; Professor of Abkhaz State University , author of a number of books and scientific papers; from 2005 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2013 - Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Abkhazia [1] .

Biography
Born February 23, 1953 in Sukhum . From the same family with Nestor Lakoba , according to his own statement: “My great-grandfather and his grandfather were siblings” [2] .
He graduated from the history department of the Sukhumi State Pedagogical Institute .
In his youth, he appeared in the local press with poems written in Russian, published several poetry collections - in particular, the first of them, “Wheel and Snow” (1979), received positive reviews from critics who believed that “S. Lakoba’s poems break stereotypes of perception ”(M. Borschevskaya) [3] , and readers“ should be grateful to the poet for his faith in reading creative abilities ”(G. Adamia) [4] .
From 2000 to 2004, he was a visiting professor at the Center for Slavic Studies at Hokkaido University ( Japan ) as a visiting professor. During this period he published a series of monographs on the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict and the recent history of Abkhazia.
He is currently a professor at Abkhaz State University and the author of many publications on archeology, history, politics and culture of the peoples of the Caucasus.
Political career
From 1991 to 1996, during the Georgian-Abkhaz war of 1992-1993 - Member of the Supreme Council - Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia; in 1993-1994 - First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, and in 1994-1996 - First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament. One of the closest associates of Vladislav Ardzinba [5] .
Since 1996 - in opposition . He criticized the practice of non-alternative presidential elections in Abkhazia [6] .
He took an active part in the Geneva process to resolve the military conflict under the auspices of the UN and with the mediation of Russia . In recent years, as part of the Berghof Center (Germany) and the non-governmental organization Reconciliation Resources (Great Britain), he has been a participant in informal Georgian-Abkhaz meetings in Austria and Germany (Schleining process).
At the first stage of the presidential election in 2004, he ran in tandem with Sergei Bagapsh for the post of vice president of Abkhazia . At the second stage of the presidential election, in the interests of intra-Abkhaz consent, he gave way to Vice-President Raul Khadzhimba .
From 2005 to August 18, 2009 - Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Abkhazia [7] .
In 2009, during the presidential election in Abkhazia, he did not stand for candidacy [8] .
May 15, 2011 he entered the Church Council of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia from the laity [9] .
In the presidential election in Abkhazia in 2011, he supported Alexander Ankvab . On the eve of the decisive vote, Lakoba said: “I had a difficult relationship with Alexander Ankvab, because he himself is also a difficult person. But for our complex society, apparently, such a complex person is needed. He knows our society very well, the mentality of our people ... Vladislav Ardzinba considered him an extraordinary, intelligent person and greatly appreciated as a specialist and professional ” [10] .
Since December 2011 he was again appointed Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Abkhazia [1] .
May 11, 2012 took part in a meeting of President of the Russian Federation V. Putin and President of Abkhazia A. Ankvab in the Sochi residence "Bocharov Ruchey" [11] .
In the spring of 2013, a conflict broke out between Lakoba and Ankvab over the certification of the population living in areas bordering Georgia, after which both politicians stopped communicating with each other.
On October 29, 2013, A. Ankvab was dismissed, with whom Lakoba himself did not agree and accused the President of Abkhazia of usurping power [12] .
According to published estimates, Lakoba was the main ideologist of the May events of 2014 in Sukhum , as a result of which Raul Khadjimba came to power in the republic [13] .
Family
Stanislav Lakoba is married, has a son and daughter.
