History
The pavilion was built in 1969-1971 according to the project of architects L. M. Marinovsky, Igor Vinogradsky , A. M. Rydaev, G. V. Astafiev, V. A. Nikitin and N. V. Bogdanova in the style of Soviet modernism . Previously, in its place was the greenhouse of subtropical cultures, built in 1939 as part of the pre-war exhibition, reconstructed in the 1950s, but eventually demolished. The pavilion consists of three volumes - the largest central one, and an orangery hall and a cinema-lecture hall attached to it on both sides, which also houses utility rooms. The building is faced with marble; narrow slit-shaped windows are located on the facades [2] [3] [4] .
The exposition of the pavilion was devoted to the achievements of gardening organizations, botanical gardens, design institutes of the Soviet Union and was divided on a territorial basis. In separate rooms (located in the side parts of the pavilion) there was a greenhouse and a cinema-lecture hall. The site next to the pavilion was set aside as a site for growing various horticultural crops, which complemented the pavilion exposition. The exposition was abolished in the 1990s, after which the pavilion was occupied with trade. In 2013, in the pavilion, in accordance with its original theme, the School of Gardeners and Landscape Designers was opened [5] .
On December 1, 2017, the pavilion was closed for overhaul, after the end of which it is planned to place a trade and exhibition platform for gardening topics, including lectures on this topic [2] .
