Biography

Konstantin Vladimirovich Katz (a pseudonym - Dubrovsky) was born on August 28, 1879 in the city of Irkutsk. He studied at the Irkutsk craft and Sloboda Sunday school. Then, from 1896 to 1899 he studied at the Irkutsk teacher's seminary. Having received a teacher’s education, he worked in the Verkhneudinsky foreign primary school. In 1907 he was one of the organizers of the Irkutsk branch of the All-Russian Teachers Union. However, for revolutionary propaganda among the peasants he was dismissed.

Since 1903 he was in the Irkutsk security department of the members of the Social Revolutionary Party . In 1908 he left the party of the Social Revolutionaries.

He began to write and print his works in 1899. He was an employee of the regional newspaper " Eastern Review ". Since 1906 he was the editor of the newspaper "Siberia". He led the newspaper in the feuilleton department. Until 1917, he published works in periodicals of the cities of Tomsk , Irkutsk , Omsk , Chita, Barnaul , Yakutsk , etc. He published his works under various pseudonyms - K. Lensky, Kade, etc.

In 1916, in St. Petersburg, his materials on Siberia and Siberians were published in the book "Birth in the country of exile."

In 1918, he collaborated with the journal "Autonomous Siberia", in 1920-1921, with the journal "Proletarian Culture", was engaged in the history of culture of Siberia. At the end of the civil war, K.V. Dubrovsky left for Moscow. He lived there from 1921 to 1941. In the capital, his books were written “In the land of snow and gold. Yakut Autonomous Republic, its present, past and future ”,“ Yakut link in Russian fiction ”, local history materials. With the beginning of World War II he was evacuated to Chelyabinsk.

Konstantin Vladimirovich Dubrovsky died on February 6, 1943 in Chelyabinsk.

Creativity

KV Dubrovsky wrote cycles of poems “Songs of a prose writer”, “From spring melodies”, etc. His works were published in the collections “The First Literary Collection of Siberians”, “The Second Literary Collection of Siberians”, in the journal “Ruff”, the almanac “Northern Dawns” ”And others. The work of K. Dubrovsky was influenced by the poetry of Semyon Yakovlevich Nadson .

He also wrote in the genre of fictionalized biography. He was the author of the essay “In the End of the World”, “Essays on the History of the Education of Siberia”, essays on Siberians V. I. Vagin, M. V. Zagoskin, N. A. Belogolov, A. P. Shchapov, N. M. Yadrintsev , G.N. Potanine, D.I. Mendeleev, P.P. Ershov, I.V. Fedorov-Omulevsky, V.I. Surikov, etc.
