Biography
Representative of the Silesian line of the Polish Piast Dynasty . The eldest son of Konrad V Katsky (1381/1387 - 1439), Prince Olesnitsky (1412-1439), and Margarita, whose origin is unknown.
In September 1439, after the death of his father, Konrad V Katsky , Konrad IX Cherny and his younger brother Konrad X Bely inherited his possessions. From 1439 to 1450, the brothers were under the tutelage of their uncle Conrad VII of White , who ruled their principality. Conrad VII transferred the Kozlensky land (part of Kozle , part of Gliwice and Bytom ) to his nephews under control, and their mother, the Dowager Princess Princess Margarita, received Voluv as a widow's inheritance [1] . In 1448, Conrad VII White forcefully seized Volow from Margarita [1] .
In March 1450, the brothers Konrad IX Cherny and Konrad X Bely removed from power and arrested their uncle Konrad VII Bely, who, together with his wife, was imprisoned in Olesnitsky Castle [1] . Conrad IX and Conrad X seize all the lands, cities and all uncle’s property [1] . The German king Frederick III of Habsburg intervened in the conflict of his uncle with his nephews [1] . In the same 1450, Konrad VII Bely was released and went to Wroclaw [1] . In July 1450, Frederick III of Habsburg appointed three judges to resolve the conflict . In April 1451, a court ordered Princes Conrad IX and Conrad X to return to their uncle all seized possessions and property [1] . In April-May 1451, Conrad VII Bely transferred his rights to the Principality of Olesnitz in favor of the German King Frederick III of Habsburg, despite the fact that his nephews did not comply with the decisions of the royal court and did not return his possessions and property to him. Frederick III of Habsburg ceded the rights to the Principality of Olesnitz to his sister Margarita of Saxony [1] .
Initially, the brothers Konrad IX Cherny and Konrad X Bely jointly ruled the Olesnitsky principality . But in 1452, the brothers divided the principality into two parts: Konrad IX Cherny took possession of the cities of Olesnitsa , Gliwice , Kozle and Byt , and Konrad X Bely - Voluv , Sytsuv , part of Scinava and Milicz .
During the war for the Czech throne, Konrad IX Cherny initially supported Jiří from Podebrad , and in 1459, together with his younger brother, took the oath of allegiance to him in exchange for confirming their rights to their fatherly possessions. During the invasion of the Hungarian king Matthias Hunyadi in Silesia, the brothers Conrad IX Black and Konrad X White broke their alliance with the Czech king and brought him a vassal oath of allegiance .
In 1459, Konrad IX Cherny bought the second half of the Bytom principality for 1,700 hryvnias from Prince Vaclav Tseshinsky .
On August 14, 1471, Prince Olesnitsky, Conrad IX Cherny, died. In accordance with his will, he was succeeded by his younger brother Conrad X White . Olesnitsa , the capital of the principality, passed into the possession of his widow Margarita and their daughter Barbara.
