Kurolap, Semen Alexandrovich

In 1980 he graduated from the Faculty of Geography of MV Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Geography with a specialization in Biogeography .

In 1987 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of geographical sciences.

In 1999 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Geographical Sciences on the topic "Geoecological basis for monitoring public health and regional models of environmental comfort."

Since 2000 - Head of the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Monitoring of Voronezh State University.

In 2003 he was awarded the academic title of professor.

Since 2017 - Dean of the Department of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism of Voronezh State University.

S. A. Kurolap is a well-known and prominent specialist in the field of medical geography, geoecology, human ecology and urban ecology. Currently, specific scientific interests are associated with the substantiation of the geoecological and informational foundations of medical and environmental monitoring of industrial, agricultural and urbanized regions (using the example of the Central Black Earth Region), the development of scientific and methodological principles for environmental assessment of the environment, the creation of habitat comfort models based on a set of geoecological criteria . Implemented many major research projects, including with financial support from grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, RFBR, DGF, EU and others. In 2008 - 2012 under the guidance of Professor S.A. Kurolap implemented an international environmental project on global climate change and its consequences in large industrial cities of Germany and Russia (together with the Department of Meteorology of the German University of Kassel), and in 2012 - 2016. bought the coordinator from Voronezh State University in a large international project TEMPUS ("HUMAN Security") on the problems of radioecological safety. The organizer and head of the educational and scientific-production center "Human Ecology", which was created on the basis of cooperation between personnel and scientific and technical potential of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism of Voronezh State University and the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Voronezh Region; Radioecological Safety Training Resource Center, established with EU financial support as part of the TEMPUS project. In a short time at the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Monitoring at Voronezh State University under the direction of S.A. Kurolap performed original research in the field of medical geography, which, according to B.B. Prokhorov is known to the scientific community as the Voronezh Experiment [1] .

Scientific work is closely related to educational and methodological activities. He developed the author’s courses "Human Ecology" and "Medical and Environmental Monitoring" for students of geographical faculties. He developed a curriculum and manages the magistracy in environmental monitoring, radioecological safety and environmental impact assessment. Author and co-author of more than 350 scientific publications, 50 textbooks and educational works. Supervisor of postgraduate studies in the specialty "Geoecology" at the University of Voronezh. Under his scientific supervision, 8 candidate dissertations were defended.
