Biography

Slow Emily Green was born on August 27, 1884 on Craven Road, in the Paddington area, London. Slow Parents Emily Green was Emily Laura, nee Butler and Frederick John Green, a butcher and farmer. A son and four daughters grew up in their family, the third of which was Madeleine [1] . [2] .

From the age of nine, Emily Green and her sisters studied at Princess Helena College. From 1906 to 1911, she studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London . In 1911 she was awarded a silver medal for the drawing "Agrippina, bearing the ashes of Germanicus."

In the early 1940s, Green moved to live on Sutton Bridge, a county off the North Sea coast of Lincolnshire , UK , then to Melton Constable Park in Norfolk [3] .

Slowly Emily Green died in a Norfolk hospital on February 17, 1947. She was buried at St. Leonard's Cemetery in the village of Heston - London Borough Hounslow .

Works and Exhibitions

During the life of Medlin Green, her paintings were presented in 18 galleries in England, Scotland and Ireland, at the Venice Biennale, Paris salons (where she was twice awarded medals), in Adelaide [4] and Melbourne .

In 1912 - 1943, her paintings were exhibited thirty-two times at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions [5] [6] .

The last exhibition of paintings by the artist, entitled "Moments in Time" [7] was held in 2011 at the Pitzhanger estate in Ealing .

A complete list of the artist’s works has not been compiled, but about a hundred paintings by her are known [8] . Medlin Green was a versatile artist. In her works she used various techniques and materials, including aquatint (a type of etching), coal, a dry needle (engraving technique on metal), oil and watercolor. Her paintings are now highly valued at art auctions [9] [10] [11] .
