History
In the "List of populated areas of the Samara province according to the data of 1859," the settlement is mentioned as the owner village Varvarovka of the Nikolaev district (1st camp) at the Bolshoi Irgiz river, located 13 miles from the county town of Nikolaevsk . The village had 45 yards and 478 residents (249 men and 229 women) [2] .
According to the “List of Populated Places of the Samara Province According to 1889 Information” in the village belonging to the Kamensky volost , there were 115 yards and 664 people lived (Russians, Orthodox and Old Believers). In Varvarovka there was the estate of Princess M. A. Obolenskaya and two windmills [3] .
According to 1910, there were 145 yards in the village of Varvarovka and 815 people lived (400 men and 415 women). A parish school and five windmills functioned [4] .
Geography
The village is located in the western part of the district, in the steppe zone, within the Syrt Plain , on the right bank of the Bolshoi Irgiz River , at a distance of about 12 kilometers (in a straight line) to the southwest of the city of Pugachev . The absolute height is 25 meters above sea level [5] .
