Leonid Vasilievich Zhelnin (1934, village of Yelovtsy, Kumyon district , Kirov region - January 14, 1987) - foreman of the logging team of the Kaysky timber industry enterprise of the Verkhnekamsk region, Hero of Socialist Labor (1966), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 8th convocation.

Biography
He began his career in his school years, working as a tractor driver on a collective farm. After military service, he got a job at the timber industry enterprise in the village. Ozhmegovo, Kai district (now - Verkhnekamsk district ). He worked as a tractor driver in the skidding of the forest, then as the foreman of the logging team. Annually exceeded planned targets (for example, in 1977, a team under his leadership procured 25 thousand cubic meters of wood instead of 12 thousand according to plan).
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 17, 1966, L. V. Zhelnin was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" [1] , and was also awarded with other orders and medals and more than 20 insignia. It is entered in the Book of Labor Glory of the Kirov Region.
He was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the USSR of the 8th convocation (1970-1974), a delegate to the 27th Congress of the CPSU (1986). He conducted active public work, including repeatedly speaking to prisoners in the colonies.
He died at the workplace, behind the arms of a tractor, on January 14, 1987 at the age of 52.
He became one of the two Heroes of Socialist Labor - representatives of the Verkhnekamsk region, along with Semyon Fedorovich Chernitsyn .
