Beagle (program)

Beagle (from Beagle - dog breed, hound, bloodhound; pronounced / ˈbiːɡəl / ) - search system for Linux and other UNIX-like systems that allows you to search for documents, conversation logs, letters, contacts. In terms of functionality, Beagle resembles such programs as Spotlight , Home Search , Google Desktop and personalized Yandex search .

Beagle is written in C # using Mono . It uses the Lucene indexing system ported to .NET , as well as the Linux kernel inotify subsystem. Beagle contains a graphical user interface written using GTK # , but there is also a Kerry KDE interface.

  • Images ( PNG , JPEG , TIFF , GIF , SVG )
  • Music files ( MP3 , Ogg , FLAC )
  • Notes by Tomboy , KNotes , and Labyrinth
  • RSS Feeds (using Blam , Liferea or Akregator )
  • Source code ( C , C ++ , C # , Fortran , Java , JavaScript , Pascal , Perl , PHP , Python , etc.)
  • Video files (via MPlayer or Totem )
  • Pages visited ( Mozilla Firefox , Konqueror , Epiphany )

Beagle can also index other file formats using third-party modules.
