The Early Years (2001-2004)

In 2001, with his friends and colleagues at Dominus, Poulsen created a new band called Volbeat. The band's first demo, Beat the Meat , was sold in 1,000 copies, so Volbeat received an invitation from Rebel Monster Records.

The band's debut album, The Strength / The Sound / The Songs , was released in 2005 . The disc enjoyed widespread success in Denmark and reached 18th place on the Tracklisten chart [2] . Music critics also reacted favorably to the album, for example, the reviewer of the German rock magazine Rock Hard gave The Strength / The Sound / The Songs a maximum rating of 10 out of 10 [3] .
Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil (2007)
In 2007, the band released their second album, Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil , which held tracklisten's 1st place for a week [4] . The band performed at the opening of the Roskilde festival, as well as at the opening act of Metallica and Mnemic at their concert in Denmark in July 2007. This was followed by a concert with Megadeth in Finland and in the hometown of Volbeat - Copenhagen, and several performances at the 2008 summer festival. After recording the Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil, the band left guitarist Frans Gottshalk, replaced by Thomas Bredal.
Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood (2008-2009)
In 2008, Volbeat released its third album, Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood , topping the Danish Tracklisten and Finnish Suomen virallinen lista [5] . The Rock Hard reviewer rated the record 9 points [6] . After the release of Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood, the group was four times nominated for the Danish Music Awards - the Danish equivalent of the Grammy Award [7] . Among the nominations were “Album of the Year”, “Band of the Year” and “Best Vocal”. In 2009, the band performed on the main stage of the Pinkpop festival , and also accompanied Nightwish on their tour of the United States and Metallica on a World Magnetic Tourtour tour of North America .
