Biography

Born in the family of an Orthodox priest Arseny Zheleznyakovich and his wife Lyudmila in 1913. At the age of nine, he lost his father, and in 1935 - his mother. In 1935 he graduated from the Vilnius Theological Seminary , and in 1939 - from the Department of Orthodox Theology of the University of Warsaw , but because of the outbreak of World War II, he failed to defend his master's work [1] .

On May 24, 1942, the Bishop of Grodno and Bialystok Benedict (Bobkovsky) ordained him deacon [1] , and on May 26 - into the priest . In 1942-1951, he was the rector of the parish in Hajnowka . In 1951, the Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland, Macarius appointed him rector of the Warsaw Orthodox Theological Seminary . In 1959 he defended his thesis at the Moscow Theological Academy on the topic "Towards the History of the Yablochinsky St. Onufrievsky Monastery." In 1964 he received a doctorate in theology at the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw [2] .

In 1970, he was relieved of the post of rector of the Warsaw Theological Seminary and on September 16 was appointed rector of the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bialystok . He took part in the construction of the Church of the Holy Spirit - the largest Orthodox church in Poland. From September 15, 1986 - Bialystok deanery , and from September 24 - Protopresbyter (the highest rank for the white clergy ) [2] .

He died on December 25, 2004 in Bialystok. At the time of his death, he was the oldest priest of the Polish Orthodox Church. He was buried in the Orthodox cemetery of All Saints in Bialystok [3] .
