Biography

Alexander G. Bendetsky was born on January 16, 1911 in the city of Zolotonosha, Poltava region of the Ukrainian SSR, in a handicraft family. He studied at the seven-year school in Zolotonosha. After graduation, he went to work in Tashkent . There he studied and worked in different places: a student at a leather factory, an accountant in a cotton trust, an economist in the board of a dry cleaning cooperative.

In 1932 A. Bendetsky went to live in Kazan . Until 1934, he worked as an economist in the Tatar regional office of the All-Union Association for Trade with Foreigners ( Torgsin ), since 1939 - in the planning department of the Tatgosizdat. At the same time, without interruption from production, he studied at the labor faculty. Subsequently, A. Bendetsky went to study at the Kazan Institute of Civil Engineering, from the third year he transferred to the evening department of the Kazan State Pedagogical Institute.

In 1939, A. Bendetsky got a job as an artist of the Tatphosphilarmonic Society. In 1940 he joined the Union of Writers of the USSR, in 1942 - into the party.

Since the beginning of World War II, as part of a brigade of artists, he was sent by the Department of Arts under the Council of Ministers of the TASSR to service military units. Since 1942, as part of the brigade, he performed in the Kostroma recovering battalion, in military units and hospitals of the Ivanovo garrison.

On May 1, 1943, on one of the sections of the front, Alexander Bendetsky was seriously wounded. He died in the hospital. In May 1943, the writer’s family received a letter from the front: “On May 1, at 9 p.m. 1943, we suffered a bereavement: Alexander Grigorievich Bendetsky, being on a combat section of the front, died heroically. On April 29, under the direction of A. G. Bendetsky, our ensemble gave a concert for the personnel. Sasha performed six numbers with great success. He was supposed to speak on May 1 at seven o’clock in the evening, but at four o'clock in the afternoon a fragment of an enemy shell was seriously wounded. At nine in the evening he died in the hospital. "

Creativity

Alexander G. Bendetsky is the author of many poems, stories and essays. His poems: “Bread and Salt”, “Druzhinnitsa”, “Partisan Detachment”, “Girl” and “Stars” and others were published in the collective collections “Homeland” (1940), “Blood for Blood” (1942), in the newspaper "Soviet Tataria".

In 1940, his children's works were printed as a separate book - “On the Border”. The writers were interested in the Tatar poets Musa Jalil and Adele Kutui . A. Bendetsky also studied the work of Tatar poets, was engaged in translating their works into Russian. He translated into Russian the works of G. Tukai: “Shurale”, “Hay Market, or New Kisekbash” (“Pechen Bazaars, Yakhud Yana Kisekbash”), “Native aul” (“Tugan Avyl”), A. Alisha - “Mom’s fairy tales ”(“ Әniy Ukiyatlәre ”), poems by poets S. Hakim, A. Kutuy, N. Davli.

Alexander G. Bendetsky, together with the Tatar writer A. Kutuy, translated the play “Streams” by the Tatar playwright T. Gizzat (1895 - 1955). In 1940, he was engaged in editing in Russian the collection of poems of the poet G. Tukay. The last work he translated into Russian was the play for children of the playwright S. Zaini based on the tales of G. Tukay “Leshiy” (“Shүrәle”).

In 1939 - 1941, four books by Bendetsky (published by Tatknigoizdat) were published in the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
