Karpungveyem [2] - a river in the north of the Russian Far East , flows through the territory of the Chaunsky district of the Chukotka Autonomous Region . The river is 40 km long [2] .

The name is translated from Chuk. Erpunveem - "river flowing from Mount Karpung." In turn, the oronim Karpung , according to one version, is translated from Yukagir as βhillβ, according to another it is named for the Chukchi buried here [3] .
It takes its sources near a hill 560 m high, flows northward, surrounded by marshes of the Chaun Lowland , in the lower reaches sharply turns to the west until it flows into Palyavam on the left [4] .
