El Foah ( Arabic: الفوعة ) is a settlement in Syria located in the Idlib region of the governorate of the same name. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Syria, the population in 2004 was 10,264. [1] The population is predominantly Shia Muslim . [2] [3]

History
During the Civil War in Syria, the Shiite-populated settlements of El Foix and Kefray , located in Idlib governorate, were surrounded on all sides by the Syrian opposition , but despite a long siege, they continue to remain faithful to the government of Bashar al-Assad . Government forces have repeatedly made unsuccessful attempts to break the blockade of these settlements.
