History
The village of Shchigry (aka Vetlyanka ) is mentioned in the List of populated areas of the Samara province according to the information for 1889. According to the List, the village belonged to the Chernavsk volost of the Nikolaev uyezd of the Samara province . The village had 727 inhabitants. The allotment of land was 2091 desyatin comfortable and 181 desyatin uncomfortable land, there were 2 windmills [2] . According to the census of 1897, 555 people lived in the village, all of them were Orthodox [3]
According to the List of Populated Places of the Samara Province in 1910, the village was inhabited by former state peasants , Russians , Orthodox, 400 men and 376 women, the village had a windmill and a school of literacy [4] .
Physical-geographical characteristic
The village is located in the Volga region , on the Chernava River (left tributary of the Small Irgiz River ). The relief of the land is hilly-flat, near the village of the Chernava River, cutting through the southeastern spurs of Kamenny Syrt (part of the upland Common Syrt ) forms a relatively deep valley, the slopes of which are cut by ravines and ravines [5] . The height of the center of the settlement is 72 meters above sea level [6] . Soils - southern chernozems [7] .
The village is located about 17 km east of the district center of the village Ivanteevka . By road, the distance to the district center is 19 km, to the regional center of the city of Saratov - 300 km, to Samara - 160 km [8] .
