University of Helsinki ( fin. Helsingin yliopisto , Swedish Helsingfors universitet until April 22, 2014 [1] had the name “Kisaniemi” fin. Kaisaniemi , Swede. At the time of its discovery, it was named on Kaisaniemenkatu street (Kaisaniemi street, originally originated on behalf of Kais Niemi ). It was the only station of the Helsinki Metro, whose name sounded the same in both Finnish and Swedish, and therefore the name was announced only once. On April 22, 2014, it was renamed “University of Helsinki”, which caused a wave of discontent among the citizens [1] .
Located in the center of Helsinki , in the districts of Kluuwi and Kruununhaka . The entrance to the station is located at Vuorikatu, 12 at the corner with Kaisaniemenkatu street.
It has a single exit, equipped with 3 escalators and 2 elevators. Lifts are unusual in that they move diagonally along the escalators, and not up and down.
Passenger traffic: 9,867 people on weekdays (2005).
It is located at a depth of 27 meters from the surface of the earth (22 m below sea level).
