Biography
Künzegesh Yuri Shoidakovich was born on October 17, 1927 in the town of Arbyk in the Todzha district of the Tuva People’s Republic [1] . He graduated from Toora-Khem Primary School, Abakan Teaching Institute (1951), Higher Literary Courses at the Literary Institute. Gorky in Moscow (1960). He worked as a proofreader, literary employee of the newspapers Tyvanyn Anyyaktary, Shyn, editor and chief editor of the Tuva Book Publishing House from 1951 to 1989, and editor of the poetry department of the Ulug-Khem magazine.
He began his literary work in 1942 . The first collection of poems “Melodies of the Steppe” was published in 1952 . J. Künzegesh was an innovator who enriched the poetic language with expressive means and new images. He led the sonnet genre in Tuvan poetry (since 1949) [2] . He is the author of a reading book on Tuvan literature for secondary schools. He compiled textbooks “Tuva Literature” for grades 8-10 and “Native Literature” for grades 8. Translated into Tuvan language the works of A. Pushkin , M. Lermontov , L. Tolstoy , V. Mayakovsky , M. Gorky , S. Yesenin , A. Blok , T. Shevchenko , M. Kilchichakov , Euripides , S. Rustaveli , F. Schiller , J. B. Moliere , E. Rostand [3] . His works have been translated into Russian, Mongolian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Altai, Buryat, Chuvash, Khakass, Yakut. He was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR since 1949.
He died on November 9, 2000 in Kyzyl .
