Route

The race route was introduced in early July 2017. It consisted of six stages taking place in the Adelaide region of South Australia .

The first stage was launched by Port Adelaide, where the first release of the Tour Down Ander in 1999 began. The fifth stage ends with two climbs on Willung Hill, which was decisive in previous issues of the race. The final stage was a criterium around the center of Adelaide. [four]

After the second stage, it was announced that the third stage will be reduced due to projected high temperatures. Two of the three finish laps around Victor Harbor were removed from the route, which reduced the leg to 120.5 km (75 miles). [five]

Classification Leaders

Four different T-shirts were played on the Down Ander Tour 2018. The leader of the general classification , which was calculated by summing the time of each rider shown at each stage, was awarded an orange T-shirt. In addition, this classification took into account temporary bonuses for the finish in the first three places at all stages: 10 seconds for the first place, 6 for the second and 4 for the third and intermediate finishes: 3 seconds for the first place, 2 - for the second and 1 - for the third. The driver with the lowest total time became the winner of the general classification and the entire race.

The leader of the sprint classification wore a green T-shirt. The place in this classification was determined by the points accumulated by the rider for the finish in the top 10 at the stages and for the first three positions occupied in the intermediate finishes.

A white shirt with blue peas was awarded to the leader of the mountain classification , which was calculated by the sum of points awarded to the rider for crossing the top of the category climbs among the first. Each climb in the race, depending on its complexity, was awarded a category: first or second. The higher the category of climb, the more points were played on it and the more riders had the opportunity to get them.

The leader of the youth classification was awarded a white T-shirt. This classification was calculated as well as the general one, but only between riders younger than 24 years old.

There was also a team classification in which the positions of the participating teams were determined by the total time shown by the three best racers of each team at each stage. The team with the lowest total time after the last stage became the winner of the classification.

Additionally, after each stage, the prize was awarded to the most aggressive driver, who, according to the jury of the race, was the most attacking and active, showed persistence and skill. At the next stage, it was marked with a red number . [6]
