Biography

Orthodox. From hereditary nobles. A native of Terek region.

He graduated from the Tiflis Cadet Corps (1895) and the Konstantinovsky Artillery School (1897), from where he was released as second lieutenant to the 20th Artillery Brigade . It was made on assignments on August 28, 1900.

April 5, 1903 transferred to the West Siberian artillery division. He was promoted to headquarters captain on August 29, 1903. In 1909, he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff in the 1st category, but did not serve in the General Staff. December 9, 1909 transferred to the 2nd Finland Rifle Regiment . February 28, 1912 promoted to captain , and August 26 of the same year - to lieutenant colonel for a vacancy. On August 22, 1913 he was transferred to the 1st Finland Rifle Regiment , where he was appointed commander of the 1st battalion.

He entered the First World War in the ranks of the 1st Finland Rifle Regiment. Granted by St. George's Arms

 Because he commanded six companies with 4 machine guns, on November 4-5, 1914, he captured the strongly fortified village of Gross-Strengeln, defending itself with two enemy battalions, capturing 56 prisoners by night storm. the next day, he repelled four attacks of superior enemy forces, holding his position until the order to withdraw, due to the extremely destructive artillery fire of the enemy.

 For the fact that in the battle on April 19, 1915, at a position near the village of Koziovka, commanding a combat area at an altitude of 927 and being under strong enemy fire, he showed outstanding courage and discretion and, despite the superiority of the enemy’s forces, stayed on the occupied area and prevented only the loss of our entire position, but forced the enemy to retreat, and 11 officers, 750 lower ranks and 7 machine guns were captured in sections of his position. 

On June 11, 1916 he was appointed commander of the 3rd Finland Rifle Regiment . In 1917, he commanded the shock battalion of the 1st Finland Rifle Division.

During the Civil War he participated in the White Movement as part of the All-Union Socialist League , was at the disposal of the commander of the troops of the North Caucasus. He was promoted to major general on March 1, 1920 . In exile in Greece. He was a member of the Society of Russian Monarchists in Athens. He died in 1928. He was buried in the Russian sea cemetery in Piraeus (the grave was not preserved).

He was married to Vera Vladimirovna Zhigalina, the daughter of a major general. Their kids:
