Biography

From the nobles ; the son of the ataman of the Yaitsky army Martemyan Mikhailovich Borodin , who led the part of the Yaitsky army that remained loyal to the government during the Pugachev riot . He was twice the military ataman of the Ural Cossack army of his choice (from 1798 to 1823 and from 1827 to 1830), the last of the elected atamans and the last of the atamans - the Ural Cossacks by birth. He enjoyed enormous popularity among the Cossacks: "Ataman Borodin is the only one in the entire army."

At the head of the regiments of the Ural Cossacks participated in campaigns in 1781, 1782, 1784 and 1787. - in the Kyrgyz steppe , from 1789 to 1791 on the Caucasian line , from 1798 to 1800. - a marching chieftain in Switzerland , in the corps of Lieutenant General Rimsky-Korsakov . Upon arrival in Switzerland , the Borodin regiment was in the rearguard when the corps moved from Utznach to Zurich . During the battle near Zurich, Borodin's regiment was located in the main position, later he participated in the battle at Diessenhofen (September 26).

Upon returning to his homeland, Borodin continued to atamanism until 1823 , during which time he participated in a campaign ( 1809 ) in the Kazakh steppe, participated in the formation of the Ural Cossack regiments sent to the Russian-Turkish and Napoleonic wars . Under him in Uralsk was opened the first military school for boys.

Davyd Martemyanovich Borodin died in 1830 with the rank of major general .

According to the will after his death, all the serfs of Borodin were recorded by the Cossacks of the Ural Cossack army. The name of Borodin was borodino stanitsa in the Ural region (now the village of Borodinsk, Orenburg region of Russia).
