Henry I (Count of d'Et)

Henry I ( fr. Henry I ; d. July 12, 1140 ) - Earl of d'Et and 2nd Lord Hastings , Anglo-Norman aristocrat, participant in the rebellion of 1118 - 1119 against the English king Henry I of Bocklerc .

Henry was the son of William II , Count of d'E, and probably Elissenda d'Avranches, daughter of Robert I le Goz, Viscount d'Avranche , and sister of Hugo , 1st Earl of Chester . In 1096, Henry succeeded his father as Earl E and Lord Hastings . In 1118, Henry d'Eil joined the revolt of the Norman barons led by Amory III de Montfort against the English king Henry I. The purpose of the rebels was to transfer the throne of the Duchy of Normandy to William Cliton , son of the captive Duke Robert Kurtges . However, soon Henry d'E was arrested in Rouen and was forced to submit to King Henry I and give him his castles. In August 1119, he participated in the battle of Bremul on the side of the English king. At the end of his life, Count Henry left for the Benedictine monastery in Fecame .

Heinrich, Count of D'E, was married three times, but only the origin of his third wife Margarita de Sully (d. 1145 ) is known, who was the daughter of Guillaume de Blois , Count of Chartres - the elder, demented, brother of the English king Stephen . Henry and Margarita had seven children, the eldest of whom Jean (d. 1170) in 1140 inherited the county E. Jean was married to Alice d'Aubigny (d. 1188), daughter of William d'Aubigny , 1st Earl of Arundel , and at the end of his life he retired to the Fekam monastery, where he died.
