After the Beijing Olympics, Mike Carvalho remained in the Brazilian national team and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 2010, he defeated all rivals at the South American Games in Medellin , then rose to the welterweight and received bronze at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara .

In 2012, he went to represent the country at the Olympic Games in London - in the category of 69 kg in the first fight he was knocked out of the fight for the medal by American Errol Spence , the future world champion among professionals [1] .
