Everton dos Santos Lopis ( port.-Brazil. Éverton dos Santos Lopes ; born August 8, 1988 , Salvador ) - Brazilian boxer , representative of the light and first welterweight. He played for the Brazilian boxing team in the second half of the 2000s - the first half of the 2010s, the world champion, silver medalist of the Pan American and South American games, and a participant in two summer Olympic Games. Since 2015 he has been boxing on a professional level.

Biography

Everton Lopis was born on August 8, 1988 in the city of Salvador , Bahia .

Amateur career

He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in the 2006 season, when he joined the main national team of the Brazilian national team and visited the South American Games in Buenos Aires , from where he brought the silver dignity award won in the lightweight category - he was defeated in the decisive final match from Colombian Darleis Perez . Also this season, he won the Pan-American junior championship, while at the junior world championship he could not be one of the winners, in the quarterfinal he was stopped by Cuban Rognel Iglesias .

In 2007, he won a silver medal at the home of the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro , losing in the final to the Cuban world champion Jordenis Ugas . He boxed at the World Cup in Chicago , but here in the first duel he was defeated by the Mongol Uranchimegiyin Monkh-Erdene .

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . Nevertheless, there was only one single fight here - in the starting meeting of the category up to 60 kg with a score of 7: 9, he unexpectedly lost to the little-known representative of Kyrgyzstan Asilbek Talasbayev .

At the world championships of 2009 in Milan at the quarter-finals stage with a score of 17: 2 he was defeated by Russian Albert Selimov .

In 2010, he won a silver medal at the South American Games in Medellin , after which he decided to go up to the first welterweight category. With the advent of the World Series of Boxing, he immediately became a member of it, represented the American team Los Angeles Matadors, and won here against such famous boxers as Raynell Williams and Juan Pablo Romero .

At the 2011 World Championships in Baku, he defeated all his rivals in the tournament bracket, including in the finals he defeated the Ukrainian Denis Berinchik , and thereby won a gold medal.

Being among the leaders of the Brazilian boxing team, Lópis successfully qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London - here he was again unlucky in his first fight in the category up to 64 kg , with a score of 15:18 he lost to Cuban Iglesias, who eventually became winner of this olympic tournament.

After the London Olympics, Everton Lopis remained for some time in the Brazilian national team and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 2013, he performed at the World Championships in Alma-Ata , reached the semi-finals stage and received bronze, losing to Kazakh Merey Akshalov [1] .

Professional career

After leaving the Olympic team, Lopis decided to try himself among professionals and in February 2015 he successfully made his debut on a professional level. He boxed mainly in the United States, won seven victories in the first two years, without having suffered a single defeat.
