Estatic Fear is an Austrian doom metal band that combines elements of doom , gothic metal, black metal and symphonic metal in its work. Estatic Fear released two albums, on the second album, the group, in fact, was a solo project by Matthias Cogler.

History
Estatic Fear was formed in 1994 in Austria . Two members from the first roster - Beowulf and Stauff - left the band after recording their first album, and their real names are unknown. The other two members are drummer Marcus Poyntner and group leader Matthias Kogler, who took on his nickname Calix Miseriae.
In 1995, the group took part in the watch compilation “Exit” together with several little-known Austrian groups. By 1996, Estatic Fear had a contract with CCP Records, and in the same year, Somnium Obmutum was released on CCP, a mix of doom metal and classical music . There were four tracks on the disk, two of which lasted 18 and 32 minutes respectively. Among the instruments used were a lute , flute , piano and cello .
After a three-year hiatus in 1999, the second album Estatic Fear A Sombre Dance was also released on CCP. By this time, due to creative differences, all the musicians left the group, except for Matthias Kogler, who became the sole author of music and lyrics. At A Sombre Dance, the sound has changed towards simulating medieval music, although the metal component has been preserved. A number of invited musicians and vocalists participated in the recording, including Matthias father - Klaus Kogler, who played the lute.
