General Information
The single tournament brought together four representatives of the Top 10. The first seeding number in the single player tournament was the leader of the world ranking Serena Williams . The American for five matches in the tournament gave only one set (in the quarter finals of A. Ivanovich ) and confidently won the main prize. In the final, she beat the third seeded Angelica Kerber . Serena won a tournament in Stanford for the third time in her career (before that in 2011 and 2012). Last year's winner Dominika Tsibulkova defended her title as the sixth seeding number, but in the first round she lost to Garbinier Mugurus .
The double prize went to the young Spanish duo Garbinier Mugurus and Carl Suarez Navarro , who was seeded under the third number. In the final, they beat Paula Kanyu and Katarina Sinyakova . Last year's winners Raquel Cops-Jones and Abigail Spears defended their title as the first seeding numbers. The Americans reached the semifinals, where they were beaten by Kanya and Sinyakova.
