Biography
Urumilk II is known for only one inscription on the stele dedicated to completing the restoration of the temple of the Phoenician goddess [. In this inscription, made by order of King Jehavmilk , he is called the grandfather of this ruler and ruler of the Bible . Modern historians consider Urumilk II the son and heir of King Shipitbaal III . His reign dates from approximately the first half of the 5th century BC. e., the reign of King Xerxes I (486-465 BC) [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] .
No other information about the reign of Urumilk II has been preserved. It is only known that at that time Byblos, like other cities of Phenicia , was subordinate to the supreme power of the rulers of the Achaemenid state [6] .
The successor of Urumilk on the biblical throne was his son Yeharbaal [1] [3] [5] .
