Biography
Itobaal was the son of King Ahiram . After the death of his father, he inherited power over the Bible . The reign of Itobaal dates from the beginning of the 10th century BC. e. Various dates from 990 to 975 BC are given as more accurate. e. inclusive [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] .
Itobaal Biblical is known mainly for the sarcophagus of King Ahiram found in 1923, which is kept in the National Museum in Beirut . By order of Itobaal, a dedication inscription in Phoenician letters was made on the sarcophagus in which his father was buried. For this, the text already there was knocked down from him (the sarcophagus was originally used to bury another person) [6] [8] [9] [10] .
The successor of Itobaal to the throne of Byblos was Yechimilk [3] [5] [6] [7] .
