History

The Museum-Reserve was created by a decision of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in 1980. In 1990, land was allocated to him on the site of the uninhabited village of Ilyinka, about 1 km west of Ludorvaya . In 1996, the first phase of the museum was opened in the form of the architectural and ethnographic complex "Ilyinka", which was a branch of the National Museum of Udmutia named after Kuzeby Gerda [1] [2] [3] . In January 2004, the museum was separated into an independent institution and renamed “Ludorvay” [1] .

The museum consists of 5 sectors: northern, central and southern Udmurts, Russian and Tatar. The basic principle of development is the creation of micro-villages, where cult and public buildings will be presented. The chronological framework of the exposition is the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX centuries. At present, there are three monuments in the museum-reserve: Vostrikov estate (Central Udmurts sector), a tent-type windmill of the Dragomirov family and Atamanova estate (South Udmurts sector), a total of 21 buildings, a total exhibition area of 691 m². As of 2012, the museum had 4418 storage units, among which unique ethnographic collections (samples of spinning, weaving and sewing, household utensils and ritual dishes, carved spinning wheels, birch-bark tues, baby cots, implements of labor and life) [4] . The museum houses a tent-type operating windmill, which is a monument of wooden architecture (1912) [4] .

The museum has a folklore team, visitors are offered excursions, acquaintance with the Udmurt national games, a black sauna. Throughout the year, the museum hosts various events, calendar holidays ( Gerber , Holy gatherings, Pancake week , Petrov day , Honey Spas , New Year and others), familiarizing visitors with the traditions and customs of the peoples living in the region [5] [4] .

In 2006, the museum with the project “Secrets of Vukochi” (from Udm. Vukochi - Miller) became the winner of the contest “ Changing Museum in a Changing World ” [6] [4] .
