Slovo

Slovo is a Russian battleground. Founded in September 2012 by Anton “Mr. Hyde ”Belogai and Sergey“ PLC ”by Trushchev in Krasnodar . Later, Slovo branches appeared in Moscow , St. Petersburg , Yekaterinburg , Novosibirsk , Nizhny Novgorod , Khabarovsk , Rostov-on-Don , Ufa , Minsk , Kharkov , Odessa and other cities. Since 2016, battles called Slovo 2.0 have been held [1] . During the entire existence of the project, such popular rappers as Purulent , Noize MC , Bahh Tee , Rickey F , PLC , Nigtiv and others managed to participate in it.

History

Rappers Mr. Hyde and PLC from Krasnodar met in 2003, together participated in online battles, and in 2012 created the “Battle of New Era” project with dance battles and rap battles. In the same year, they founded the Slovo battle ground for a capella battles in Krasnodar, focusing on the British site Do not Flop. According to one of the founders, Hyde, one of the first versions of the name for the site was “Versus”.

First, demonstration battles were recorded for public familiarization, then registration was opened for the first competitive season. The first battles were recorded in the Krasnodar Center for Contemporary Art "Angart". Famous rappers were invited to popularize the site: ST , DJ Kid, DJ Miss Dippy, Onyx . The freestyle Battle Noize MC vs. Cuban at Slovo and Battle Hyde vs. SD at Versus Battle attracted extra attention to the site. Since 2014, branches in other cities of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine began to open. Currently, branches exist in more than 15 cities of the CIS. Some affiliates do not record video of events or record in poor quality [2] . Live events under the Slovo brand were held in St. Petersburg , Murmansk , Ufa , Rostov-on-Don , Samara , Yekaterinburg , Tyumen , London .

In 2014, the first All-Russian festival SlovoFest near Anapa took place, where for three days rap-battles of representatives of all Slovo branches took place. In 2015, another festival was held [3] .

In 2012, the winner of Slovo Krasnodar was Revenge, in 2013 - QcheR, in 2014 - Hasan [4] . Since 2016, the Executive Director of the Slovo Project is Dmitry "Johnny Quid" Kapranov [5] .

#SLOVOSPB

In 2015, the Slovo branch in St. Petersburg, led by Denis "Den Cheney" Chudinovsky, decided to secede from Slovo [7] . From the same year it is called #SLOVOSPB. Chief Dena Cheney is often criticized for assigning the name Slovo and not inventing a new name for the project [8] .

At #SLOVOSPB, there was one competitive season in 2016, in which Sergey “Seimur” Nastin won. In the previous two seasons, when the project was a branch of Slovo, in 2014 Vyacheslav “ Purulent ” Mashnov won, and in 2015 Sergey “Abbalbisk” Starikov won.

The project had two VERSUS X crossovers #SLOVOSPB on June 26, 2016 and August 6, 2017. On the second there was a battle between Oxxxymiron and Purulent .

On June 4, 2016, with the support of #SLOVOSPB, the 140 BPM Battle battle platform was opened, in which the 140 BPM Cup tournament is held. The organizers are Edward "Edik_Kingsta" Levin and Dmitry "Berserk" Mikhailov [5] . May 7, 2017 opened the platform " tear on bits " for command battles under the bit. The participants are 2 on 2. The organizers are Den Cheney and Ilya Umnov [9] . A capel battles on the site are no longer held.

In the spring of 2019, the contradictions that had accumulated in the previous period between the organizers of the Ekaterinburg branch and the management of the Slovo project led to the actual separation of the branch. The main reason, according to the statements of both parties, was the impossibility to come to a compromise on the issue of publishing videos from the March big Slovo meeting: Ekb. On April 7, 2019, branch organizer Maxim “Next Kartavy” Makhov announced that all battles that had already been shot, as well as videos from subsequent meetings, would be published on a separate branch channel. A day later, the main organizer of Slovo, Dmitry “Johnny Quid” Kapranov, announced the departure of the project from Yekaterinburg in connection with organizational disagreements. That same evening, a videoconference was held with the participation of Johnny Quid and representatives of the branch, at which both parties substantiated their position and exchanged views without reaching an understanding.
