The Vietnam Department of Cinematography finally banned the action movie "Chinatown" with Johnny Nguyen in the lead role. This means that the film is not destined to come out not only in Vietnam, but also abroad. Here is the conclusion of the Cinema Board of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism:
In “The Tolon Buidoi”, the law of cinema was violated, because it demonstrates glaring scenes of gang raids, chaotic fights with knives, swords, machetes, blood spills everywhere ... without any interference from the authorities, police, people or other social forces.
Not so long ago, producers sent an edited version of Theloid Buidoi, in which a number of violent scenes were cut and some corresponding scenes inserted. But the situation as a whole has not been corrected, so the decision was made not to issue a license to the film "The Toulon Buido".
Because of this decision, the film will go to gather dust on the shelf in the film archive. In the end, it turns out that 16 billion Vietnamese dong spent on the filming went nowhere.
If you believe the data of one of the well-known foreign resources, the hour and a half remounted version for the censors of the banned Vietnamese film "The Tolon Buoys" first appeared on YouTube, and then went to torrent trackers.
The response of the director Charlie Nguyen:
I am extremely shocked and saddened, as if someone desires death for my child. It was just a draft, with truncated content, sound, color grading, special effects and framing. I don’t want anyone to see this version, because it resembles a semi-finished product! We put a lot of effort into providing the audience with the perfect movie. And now we have to put up with the fact that people watch a poor-quality and incomplete version and evaluate the film on it. The one who posted the "Tolon Buoys" to the network is simply not very literate, and has acted too cruelly towards the film and our team. I hope the culprit will be arrested and put on trial.
