Luge competitions among men in single sleighs at the 2018 Winter Olympics were held on February 10 and 11 . The venue of the competition was the Alpensia sledding center , located in close proximity to the village of Dekvalmyeon, in Pyeongchang County. The competition was attended by 40 athletes from 20 countries. Each country could be represented by a maximum of 3 athletes.

The Olympic champion of 2010 and 2014 in this discipline was the German sleigh rider Felix Loh , who also played in Korea. Silver (Albert Demchenko) and bronze (Armin Zögeller) winners of the 2014 Games ended their careers and did not perform at the 2018 Games.

Felix Loch was in the lead after three races, but made a very gross mistake in the 4th race and failed to get even into the top three winners.

The 23-year-old David Gleierscher was just the second Austrian to win gold in this discipline at the Olympics. Previously, only Manfred Schmid managed to do this 50 years ago at the Games in Grenoble. Previously, Gleirsher had never won at the World Cup stages, and at world championships he did not rise above 7th place.

Christopher Mazdzer from the USA became the first non-European sledger in history to win a medal in this discipline at the Olympic Games.

In the struggle for bronze, the German Johannes Ludwig ahead of the Italian Dominic Fischnaller by 0.002 seconds. Fishnaller in the last race set a new track record (47.475).
