The center is the tract of Tokrau.
It was founded in October 1923, on the basis of the decision of the Central Executive Committee of the Kazakh Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of July 5, 1923 as part of the Karkaraly district by combining Tokraun , Nurinsk , Akchatav and Chulymsk . [one]
Instead of being removed from the county in January 17, 1928, part was transferred to Balkhash and part to Chetsky districts .
