Rixgransen

The word riksgränsen in Swedish literally means “ state border ”. So it is: the village is located on the border with Norway.

The climate in Riksgrensen is subarctic, but warmer than might be expected at this latitude: the North Atlantic Current , which runs along the Norwegian coast, has a warming effect. There is a large amount of solid water precipitation ( snow ) ^[2] .

Riksgransen is the northernmost ski resort in Sweden. To some experts, it seems a little rustic, since there is only one track of the highest level. Nevertheless, this resort is very popular, including because of the great opportunities for off-piste skiing and the ability to ride year-round ^[3] .
