The 1998 Baltic Cup was held in Moscow at the Luzhniki Arena from December 15 to 20. Five teams took part in the tournament. For the first time, the Russian team was left without a prize. Head coach Alexander Yakushev explained the result by the lack of time for preparation due to the tight calendar of the Russian championship . The winner of the cup was the Swedish national team , which won all four games.
