Description
Located in a wooded area 9.5 km southwest of the village of Tonkino , 37 km southeast of Uren and 180 km northeast of Nizhny Novgorod . There are no paved roads.

Name Origin
The word "Sodom" in the name of a number of settlements of the Volga region was fixed at the initiative of the official church because of religious contradictions with the first inhabitants (often the Old Believers , who were accused of paganism ) [2] .
