Wife - Klavdia Ivanovna Chukaeva (1925 -?) - chess player, champion of the Lithuanian SSR 1950 (with one hundred percent result), 1951, 1952, 1953, silver medalist of the championships of the Lithuanian SSR 1949, 1954. Participant in the championship of the RSFSR in 1950, the semifinals of the championship of the USSR in 1949 [1]

Grandmaster E. E. Gufeld recalled that Chukaev told him how he sought the hands of his future wife. According to Gufeld, Chukaev accidentally found out that his lover is fond of chess. Then he composed a poem on the subject of chess, which, apparently, helped him a lot.

"Chukaev read me the poem completely, but, unfortunately, I remembered only one phrase:" You're like a queen on d8! I’m like a pawn on d7 ... "Do you feel how beautifully said ?! I face an image of a proud, majestic queen, before whom a poor knight, offering his hand and heart, knelt down! .." [2]
