Combat capabilities are the collective name of the entire set of qualitative and quantitative indicators characterizing the ability of military forces in a specific operational situation to accomplish their combat missions within a specified time frame [1] [2] . Reliable information about the combat capabilities of its troops allows the command to make decisions that are adequate to the situation, to use their forces and means effectively, and also to set real combat missions for them [2] .
The mathematical expectation of the damage caused, the mathematical probability of solving the task, various operational and technical standards, parameters, etc., which can be calculated separately for the main combat weapons, by types of weapons, by combat arms, are often taken as quantitative indicators of combat capabilities . also for military formation as a whole as a combination of its fire, shock and maneuvering capabilities [1] [2] .
The combat capabilities of the troops are not constant values [2] and depend on the number of troops and the combat strength, staffing, quality and equipment efficiency, degree of material and technical means, preparedness of command personnel , level of controllability, moral and psychological and combat qualities of the personnel, geographical climatic and weather conditions in the theater of operations , as well as the nature of the opposition of the enemy , the quality of his forces and objects, their security, etc. [1] [2]
The assessment of the combat capabilities of the troops is carried out using mathematical, graphical, graphoanalytical and other methods of calculation using tables, graphs, nomograms, etc. taking into account the fighting qualities of the available forces and means, as well as the comparative ratio of the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of their troops against the enemy troops. In addition to taking into account the specific type of hostilities, the time allotted for the performance of combat missions, the strength of the parties and the projected level of combat losses [1] [2] .
It is believed that the most complete and objective assessment of combat capabilities can be obtained by numerical simulation of a battle or operation [1] .
