Competitions in men's snowboard in the discipline of slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics were held on February 10 and 11 in the Phoenix Snow Park. Compared to previous Games, the number of competitors has increased, and the semi-final round has been canceled. In Pyeongchang, 35 snowboarders from 14 countries performed. The qualifications for the Games were carried out according to the FIS rating.

Slopestyle competitions for the second time are presented in the program of the Olympic Games. The first Olympic champion was the American snowboarder Sage Kotsenburg , who, after the Sochi Games, completed his performances at international competitions [1] . Silver ( Stole Sandbeck ) and bronze ( Mark McMorris ) winners of the 2014 Games also performed in Pyeongchang and took 4th and 3rd place, respectively.

Qualification

In the qualification round, 40 snowboarders were divided into 2 subgroups. The draw of the groups took place on February 9 at 14:00. Each of the snowboarders performed 2 runs. The result was the best of them. For each attempt, 130 seconds were given [2] . The 6 best snowboarders from each group reached the final of the competition.

On February 9, during a training session, Tyarn Collins , who was considered one of the contenders for medals in slopestyle, received a shoulder injury [3] . As a result, he was forced to miss the Olympics.

Final

In the final of the competition 12 snowboarders participate. Compared to previous Games, format changes have occurred. Unlike the Sochi Games, each of the athletes performs 3 descents. The result is the best of them. For each attempt, 140 seconds are given [2] .
