“Never Be the Same” (from the English. - “I'll never be the same”) is the song of the American- Cuban singer Camila Cabello from the debut studio album Camila [4] . The song was released digitally on December 7, 2017 via Epic and SycoIt, along with pre-orders for the album. The official release of the song as the second single from the disc took place on January 9, 2018 [5] [6] . The second version of the song, recorded with country singer Kane Brown , was released on April 27, 2018 [7] .

History

The single's official release took place on January 9, 2018, due to the success of the song on the radio, it was included in the Top 40 US Pop Radio. The song also debuted at No. 61 in the US Billboard Hot 100 charts with 30,000 copies and 6.1 million streaming units in its first week [8] .

"Never Be the Same" combines the styles of pop and dark pop ballads [1] [2] . NME magazine describes it as "bombastic" - electro [9] . In the chorus, Cabello sings with falsetto [10] .

On January 10, 2018, Cabello performed the song for the first time on television, performing with Jimmy Fallon on his The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon [11] .

Commercial Success

The song debuted in the US Billboard Hot 100 charts at No. 61 with a circulation of 30,000 copies and 6.1 million stream in the first week of release [8] . In the second week, she went to No. 98 in the Hot 100. But in the third week after the premiere of an unofficial video on the YouTube channel , she climbed to position No. 71 [17] . After the release of the album and the appearance of the radio single, “Never Be the Same” rose from No. 65 to No. 30, becoming the fourth solo hit for the singer in the top-40 Hot 100 [18] . In the 20th week of release, the song from No. 13 climbed to No. 6, thanks to a new remix joint with country singer Kane Brown , which allowed Cabello to receive her third solo hit in the top-10 [19] . The single received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) [20] . He also became the third single on No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40 radio chart, making Cabello the sixth solo singer with two chart-toppers from his debut album [21] .

In the UK, “Never Be the Same” debuted in the UK Singles Chart at No. 41 a week from December 21, 2017. [22] In the sixth week he climbed to number 7, after the release of the album [22] . The single received gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) [23] .
